Sensex soars 439 points, ends at 2-month high

Rohit Dhyani: The 30-share BSE Sensex jumped 2.6% to end at 17,430. The 50-share Nifty index advanced 130 points to close at 5,279. The Sensex has closed at the highest level since May 2.

Global stocks gained after European leaders agreed to use the continent's permanent bailout fund to recapitalize struggling banks. Domestic sentiments were boosted by the new draft guidelines on the general anti-avoidance rules (GAAR) announced late night yesterday.
