JNL Stadium to be promoted as football hub

Rohit Dhyani: The agreement between Sports Authority of India (SAI) and All India Football Federation (AIFF) was signed today in New Delhi to use Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium for football matches.



An agreement was signed between Sports Authority of India (SAI) and All India Football Federation (AIFF)  in New Delhi in front of Sports Ministry Ajay Maken and President AIFF,Praful Patel.

Sports Authority of India will enable use of Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium by All India Football Federation for maximum of 40 days per year to host the Football matches.

SAI will provide all the facilities which are needed including security, display of perimeter boards and parking space inside the stadium on match days free of cost.

AIFF is the sole National Sports Federation authorized to represent the sport of Football in India.
Sports Minister Ajay Maken while addressing the media said that the JNL Stadium will be developed as a Football Hub and with specialized pitch/ turf in its central periphery .

‘We will provide all the facilities to AIFF for conducting International and National Football tournaments,’ he added.
